Adam Johnson calls it the “one bad man” theory of politics. Liberal Pundits and Centrist Republicans are running this play right now — pinning the entire genocide on Netanyahu. They push it hard because it’s their way to absolve Israel as a whole. It’s a bait and switch.
The truth? The Israeli public is right there with him. Nearly half — 47% — openly supported genocide in explicit terms. You’ve probably heard the phrase, “never translate a Hebrew tweet.” It’s no joke — 82% supported ethnic cleansing, and in one poll only 4% said the IDF had “gone too far.”

Not to mention the thousands of YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels showing IDF soldiers laughing at the death of children couple of miles away from them. That’s how deep the support runs. Poll after poll shows the Israeli population standing in solidarity with Netanyahu’s actions.
But here’s the trick: politicians like Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders, and Piers Morgan love to act like they’re splitting the difference — “We’re against Netanyahu and the far-right government, but we love Israel.” As if getting rid of him magically fixes everything and we can all just “go back to normal.”
F*** that. This is calculated. Democrats and Republicans don’t want to break with Israel, so they turn on Netanyahu as a mask — pretending to be anti-genocide while protecting the state as a whole. They want to treat this as just a “bad chapter” in Israel’s history, then close the book and hope we all forget.
